- Joey Dauz, together with his
paediatrician wife, Megs Dauz, is active in helping the
people in their outreaches through their limited means.
He and his core members from the Arise Christian
Ministries, provide material time and resources in
expanding the tents of the ministry, which God has laid
on their shoulders. In order to maximize help for the
“least of our brethren,” he attempts always to network
and collaborate with other ministries and organizations.

- Higaonon tribe
- Part of their outreach targets is
the endeavour of reaching out to the Higaonons, who are
known to be one of the Indigenous Peoples in Southern
Philippines. Hence, the term Higaonon is actually a
juxtaposition of two words, which are higad and
gaon. The former means “at the side or mouth of
the river or at the coastal areas”, and the latter term
means “taken”. By etymology then, there was violence in
the historical makeup and background of the Higaonons,
who “used to inhabit the coastal plains and river banks,
but were gradually, say forcibly, driven out from their
rich habitation and driven up the mountains” by other
waves of settlers.
-
- Mr. Dauz and his core members
felt that their forebears had grievously sinned against
the original inhabitants of Southern Philippines. For
this, the team is simply trying to make up for their
forebears by trying to reach out to the Higaonons,
albeit in a very limited way, in order to help them help
themselves.

Mr. Dauz is likewise active in other civic pursuits like
the Arise Foundation and the Rotary Club of Metro
Butuan. Through these organizations, he was able to
help access support for different communities and target
stakeholders.
