Kabangahan is a small village that belong to Cantilan municipal in
Surigao del Sur. Kabangahan is located in the mountains about 30 min.
drive with a motorize and is populated by the Manobo tribe. Not far from
Kabangahan a little bit longer in the jungle and up the next mountain,
the village Langkoag is located, which we also consider in this our
work.
When Thor Klaveness visited the village in 2003 with Ebenezer
Morales, FTMW was not yet founded, but there was a heart to aid
this people alike those that lives in the village of Gacub. Since May
2006 until 2011 has Teodoro and Cholly Bat-ao officially took
responsibility for the work in the village and the contact with the
children. Teodoro and his wife Zosima, nicknamed Cholly, was
representative for an area of the Manobo tribe. Cholly is working within
the
NCIP, an organ for the indigenous people in the Philippines. Due
to inaction in the area, FTMW board has overtaken the
responsibility.
Filipino Tribe Mission
sees the importance that we in solidarity take responsibility for the
people which lives here and will work actively to reach a continuous
school and health care in these two villages. |
